Utah man in Venezuelan jail says jail ‘has fallen,’ taken over by folks desirous to kill him (News)


A Utah man who has been jailed in Venezuela since 2016 after authorities accused him and his spouse of possessing firearms has made pleas on Fb claiming that the jail he’s incarcerated in has been taken over by folks attempting to kill him.

Josh Holt, 26, made a number of put up on his Fb, together with two movies, claiming that the jail “has fallen” to unidentified folks which are attempting to kill him.

“I need assistance. They’ve taken your complete jail the place I’m at,” he may be heard saying within the first video. “The folks have taken your complete jail. They’re outdoors, they’re attempting to interrupt in. They’re saying they need to kill me. They’re saying that they need me as their assure.” 

Within the second video, Holt continues by “calling on the folks of America” to get him out. “I’ve been begging my authorities for 2 years. They are saying that they’re doing issues, however I’m nonetheless right here and now my life is threatened.”

Loud voices outdoors Holt’s cell may be heard in each movies.


Holt posted once more claiming that he’s “a political prisoner,” and that he was advised by officers that “so long as my authorities continues attacking this authorities, and so long as (Republican Florida Sen.) Marco Rubio continues speaking about me the longer that they’ll by no means let me go.”

Holt was arrested after touring to Venezuela in the summertime of 2016 to marry a lady, a Venezuelan native, who he had met on a courting web site. The couple deliberate to marry in Venezuela, after which return to the USA.

Authorities of Venezuela declare that Holt was working with the U.S. authorities to overthrow President Nicolás Maduro, a plan they are saying concerned him and his spouse stockpiling weapons.

The State Division has been working with U.S. officers and Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican, to safe Holt’s launch.
