Could 16 () — President Donald Trump described undocumented immigrants in sanctuary cities as “animals” Wednesday throughout a sanctuary cities roundtable with California leaders and recommended the Division of Justice examine Oakland’s mayor for obstruction of justice.
He took umbrage with Mayor Libby Schaaf’s warning to immigrants in February of upcoming Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids.
“To me, that is obstruction of justice,” Trump stated through the roundtable, which Legal professional Basic Jeff Periods attended. “And maybe the Division of Justice can look into that.”
Periods did not react to the president’s remark, a White Home pool reporter attending the assembly stated.
Fresno Mayor Lee Model stated it was troublesome to catch and prosecute undocumented immigrants suspected in crimes.
“These aren’t folks. These are animals,” Trump responded, indicating he would really like native regulation enforcement to have extra authority in punishing immigrants.
